AUSTINTOWN – Prayers will begin Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church for Carolina “Carrie” Clara Miller, 88, of Canfield, who died Friday afternoon at Omni Manor Nursing Home.

Carrie was born July 24, 1925, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Santangelo Manna.

She had worked at the office of the U.S. Steel Corporation for over 30 years as a clerical worker before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the U.S. Steel Retirees Girls Club and St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

Her husband, Donald Miller, whom she married Oct. 11, 1969, died Sept. 28, 1984.

She is survived by three stepdaughters, Sandra (Roy) Straight of Boardman, Susan Miller of Austintown and Linda (Michael) Pilak of Austintown; three stepsons, Robert (Debbie) Bates of Warsaw, Ind., John (Nancy) Bates of Baltimore, and Richard (Sharon) Bates of Poland; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Manna; and a sister, Lucille O’Neill.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
