The Life of RONNIE GENE NEWTON

Ronnie Gene Newton, 69, was born November 6, 1944 to Junior and Dorothy Newton in Kellerton, Iowa. He passed away at his home on Saturday February 22, 2014.

Ron served in the US Army during the Vietnam era and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed winning every trophy available for his street rod and going to stock car races with his family. Ron spent much time rebuilding his John Deere tractors and being chief wine master of Hooterberry, Inc.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lenora; sons, Tony (Angie) Newton and Terry (Shelly) Newton; cat, Doodily Newton; grandchildren, Crystal, Lacy, Trevor, Shelby, Leslie; great-grandson, Maclin; brother, AC Newton; sister, Linda (Bill) Smith; twin sister, Minerva Logan; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
