The Life of DONALD FREDERICK JOHNSON

Donald Johnson, 66, was born June 20, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Philip and Nora (Jones) Johnson. He passed away at his home in Urbandale from an unexpected heart attack on February 19, 2014.

Donald graduated from North High School and worked for Meredith/R.R. Donnelly Printing for 35 years. He loved attending the Iowa State Fair and was a member of the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon 1854 Society. He collected NASCAR, was a hot rod enthusiast, and he was a fan of the Iowa Cubs and the Iowa State Cyclones.

Donald loved caring for and spoiling his granddaughter, Annie, and cherished the time he spent with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; children, Chris Johnson and Cari (Travis) Wasmund; granddaughter, Annie Wasmund; as well as other loving family and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
