The Life of PHYLLIS JEAN POLLARD

Phyllis Jean Pollard, 84, passed away on February 12, 2014 at Kavanagh on 56th Street surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation on Sunday, February 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the funeral on Monday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Jean was born on March 4, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Henry and Pauline (Anderson) Haubert. She graduated from North High School in 1947 and married Robert Pollard that same spring. Jean raised her family and later worked in various clerical positions including the Goodyear District Office, Capital City Belting and Hopkins and Huebner Law Firm. In her free time, Jean enjoyed shopping, traveling, writing poems and decorating. Above all, Jean was a good friend. She was witty, funny, and had a way of bringing people together with her laugh and sunny personality.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Baker, Roberta “Bobbie” (Terry) Brodersen, Timothy Pollard, and Jill (Tim) Boyles; honorary daughter, Jodi Aldag; grandchildren, Scott (Angie), Jen (Steven), Michelle, Eric (Tara) and Andrew; great-grandchildren, C.J., Cailie, Kaden, Kylie and Madison; step-great-grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) and Payton (Felicia); great-great-grandson, James; other extended family members, many friends; and her beloved dog, Ginger. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, LaVerne Haubert, and her husband Bob.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Union Park Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
