The Life of CLYDE LEONARD RICHARDS Jr.

The Richards family is sad to announce the passing of Clyde Leonard Richards Jr. on February 9, 2014. He passed peacefully at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Clyde was born on October 30, 1924 in Des Moines and was the son of Clyde Leonard Richards Sr. and Beatrice Pack. He married Nora Waldorff in 1048. He is survived by two children; Claudia Lynn Richards (Daniel Anderson) of Johnston, Iowa and Nancy Lu Rich (Craig Rich) of Chino California. Clyde enjoyed being a grandfather to Joseph and Tyler. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Jim Richards of Phoenix, Arizona and beloved wife of 52 years, Nora Richards.

Clyde was a veteran of World War II and a welder for most of his working life; retiring from Deere and Company and the Ford Implement Company. He relished the annual family trips to northern Minnesota and loved to fish. In his retirement Clyde enjoyed riding his motorcycle, vegetable gardening and tinkering in his shop. He was a skilled craftsman and made numerous toys and decorative items out of wood and metal scraps.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Staves Memorial United Methodist Church with the Funeral Service immediately following.

Memorials will go to either Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America Inc. or Staves Memorial United Methodist Church.
