The Life of MARILYN LOUISE LACK

Marilyn Louise Lack, 83, passed away January 25, 2014 at Wesley Acres.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Marilyn was born to Hilliard and Leta Pilcher on November 15, 1930. She moved with her parents to many small towns in Iowa before settling in Des Moines and graduating from East High School. She married her loving husband of 57 years, Ed Lack. Marilyn was employed at Farmer’s Mutual Hail Insurance Co. before becoming a stay-at-home mom, raising four children. She later worked at Cattell Elementary School, retiring after 28 years of service. While working at Cattell, she also volunteered as PTO president and homeroom mother for many years. Marilyn loved working with children, many of whom thought of her as their second mom.

Marilyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Eastern Star North Gate Chapter 417. She served on many committees and volunteered with the Auburn Order of Rainbow for Girls.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Randy Lack of Altoona, Iowa, Sherry Samperi of Huntington Beach, California, Deborah (Brian) Delk of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Alan Lack of Des Moines; and her grandchildren: Melissa Curtis, Ashley Lack, Madison and Ian Delk, and Joshua Lack. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
