The Life of RUTH ESTHER WOODS
Ruth E. Woods, age 105, passed away early Saturday morning, January 25, 2014 at the Valley View Village. She was born in Pella, Iowa and was a long time Des Moines resident. Ruth worked early on for Colonial Bakery then with Dorothy''s Dress shop and as a seamstress. She was a long time faithful member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Survivors include granddaughters, Terry (Lee) LaBelle of Altoona and Ranae (Ron Green) Whitmore of Des Moines and daughter-in-law Sheryl Prather of Des Moines. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery next to her husband Ralph Woods, who passed in 1978. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Park Funeral Home, 3500 6th Ave. She was a wonderful role model, a loving grandmother and had a life well lived.
