The Life of FLORENCE MAY COOK

Florence Cook, 83, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born April 18, 1930, in Des Moines, the daughter of Edward and Bonnie O’Donnell.

She worked at the Iowa Credit Union League. Florence was a member of Capitol City Baptist Church for 40 years, Bondurant Federated Church for 10 years, and was currently attending Timberline Church.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Sue) Cook, Debra (Robert) McCann, Rhonda (Michael) Pollock and Howard (Michelle) Cook; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren; as well as her stepchildren, Carol (Scott) Leonard and Jerry (Susan) Cook. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Cook, who went to be with the Lord 20 years prior on January 16, 1994.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
