The Life of EDWARD GERALDEAN OWENS

Edward “Sandy” Owens, 83, was surrounded by his family when he peacefully went to be with his Lord on January 14, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. He died from complications of Alzheimer’s.

Ed was a member of Berean Assembly of God in Pleasant Hill. He retired from John Deere in 1987 after 32 years of service. He enjoyed raising and showing horses.

He is survived by his wife, Della; adopted step-great-granddaughter, Kiara; children, Janilla (Sterling), Jennifer (Rick), Joe (Heather), and Joy (his favorite); step-children, Eddy (Joyce), and Brenda (Trish); 9 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine; and many more family and friends.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Beauty; first wife, Shirley; daughter, Julie; son, Jeff; step-daughter, Christy; great-grandson, Aden; and sister, Glendoris.

Funeral Services will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Berean Assembly of God Church, 5299 E University Avenue in Pleasant Hill with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 17th at the church.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice in Johnston for their great care and concern for Ed during his stay with him.
