The Life of Richard Applebaum

Richard D. Applebaum, age 69, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Applebaum was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on December 31, 1944, son of the late Ronald and Eleanor Miller Applebaum. Richard was a dedicated Police Officer for the Town of Trumbull for 43 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, before his retirement in December of 2012. Prior to his service to Trumbull, he was a Police Officer for the City of Ansonia. He was a Civil War enthusiast and was dedicated to helping our veterans by generously donating to help with their needs. He was a supporter of multiple animal charities and an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Arlene Applebaum of Shelton, three nieces, Linda Henri and her husband Dennis Larney, Cathy Moscariello and her husband Jerry all of Ansonia and Lynn Schopp of LA, a nephew, Michael Applebaum and his wife Marcy of TX, three great nieces, Stacy Warner and her husband Justin, Kaela Moscariello and Ashlyn Henri and three great nephews, Ronald Henri, Michael Applebaum and Brandon Judd. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Ronald Applebaum.

Funeral Information

At Richard’s request all funeral services were private. Burial took place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Contributions in his memory may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
