The Life of Frances Meek Brannen

Frances Marion Brannen, age 92 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Arthur F. Brannen, died November 25, 2013 at the Hewitt Health and Rehab Center, Shelton. Mrs. Brannen was born and raised in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late William Meek and Marion Butler. She was a resident of Huntington and Derby, before moving to Seymour many years ago. In her younger years, Mrs. Brannen worked as a Manager for the Rialto and Merritt Theaters before managing the Ridgefield Playhouse. She was an active member of the Hotchkiss Hose Ladies Auxiliary and an award winning volunteer at Griffin Hospital. Mrs. Brannen was a dedicated member of the Griffin Hospital Heart Club; she will be long remembered for her charming salesmanship in selling countless raffle tickets for the benefit of the Hospital Community. Mrs. Brannen is survived by her children Harold (Marilyn) Butler of FL, Nancy (Bruce) Adams of FL, Arthur F. Brannen, Jr. of Derby, William W. Brannen of Seymour, Frances (George) McGee of MD, and Stuart (Donna) Brannen of Seymour; a sister, Donna Arsenault of Stratford; a brother, Jeff Griffin of Seymour; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Butler as well as 9 siblings. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue Ansonia. Interment will directly follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 9:00 A.M., prior to the service.
