Jake "Booe" Shaw, Jr.

Jake "Booe" Shaw, Jr., 75, passed away on October 4, 2013.

He was born to the late Jake and Alberta Shaw, Sr. on October 18, 1937 in Pace, Mississippi. He was a long-time resident of Akron. Jake Shaw worked many years and retired in 2001 from the Chrysler Corporation. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lode #76.

Jake was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Shaw; second wife, Mary (Harris) Shaw; brother, Leonard "Brother" Shaw; stepsons, Granville David Walker, and Eric Harris. He is survived by brothers, Joe Shaw and Ernie Shaw, of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Lillie (Doll) Campbell, Katie Mae (Dave) Higgins, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Zettie (Willie) Benson, Brenda (Ray) Dawson, and Carmen (Dena) Shaw; stepdaughters, Daisy Walker, Annie Walker; and three step-grandchildren; special nieces, Danielle Grant and Marissa Shaw; cousin and special friend, James Birden, of Cleveland, Mississippi; close friends, Henry Dixson, Lillian Smith, Loren Roberts, Alma Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Minister Robert Johnson officiating. Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 601 Whitney Ave., Akron, OH 44306 and condolences may be sent to 808 Clearview Ave., Akron, OH 44314.
