The Life of Robert Jr. Lewis

Rev. Robert W. Lewis Sr.

Rev. Robert W. Lewis Sr., age 68, of Canton, passed away June 7, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center.

Bob was born November 3, 1945 in Akron to the late Grandvil and Willa (Kirk) Lewis. He was a 1964 graduate of North High School and attended The University of Akron. His Ministerial Studies were conducted at Moody Bible Institute and Geneva College. He held Pastoral positions within the AME Zion Church for over 40 years. In 2012, he founded Ekklesia House Ministries, where he was Senior Pastor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Juanita Goode, Grandvil Lewis Jr., Curtis Lewis and infant Tommy.

Rev. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rev. Beverly A (Smoot) Lewis and they have seven children: Ava (Kenneth) Wilson, Robert Lewis Jr., Michael Lewis, Nathaniel (Brandi) Lewis, Joseph (Ebony) Lewis, Joy (Michael) Ellis and Elizabeth (Khirye) Tyler Sr. They have 23 grandchildren and one more soon to be. He leaves a loving sister, Shirley Lewis; a spiritual brother, Timothy Marshall; and a devoted former daughter-in-law, Amber Stolicny. He also leaves a generation of pastors and spiritual children, who accepted their call under his pastoral leadership and whom he affectionately called his "Horns" .

Arrangements call for a Celebration of Life Service Only at 11 a.m. Friday at Wesley Temple AME Zion Church at 104 N. Prospect St., Akron, Ohio, the Rev. Phyllis Bush officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Messages of sympathy can be sent to the family at
