The Life of LYLA KIM WARNER
Lyla Kim Warner, 48, passed away October 7, 2013 at her brother’s home in Altoona. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on February 8, 1965 to Darrell and Luretha Warner.
Lyla attended Emmaus Bible College and graduated from the University of Maryland. She was a licensed Medical Massage Therapist and worked for Moonshadow Medical Massage. Lyla enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling, and walking on the beach.
Lyla is survived by the love of her life, Peter Mutuku; siblings, Sheryl Pierce of Texas, Dena (Jim) Lindsey of Texas, Aaron (Linda) Warner of Altoona, Aric (Alma) Warner of California, and Elsie (John) Ferguson of Indiana; step sisters, Susan (Danny) Johnson of Texas, Cynthia Shaffer of Indiana, Sandra (Eugene) Wilson of Texas and Debbie (Donald) Thomas of Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Luretha and her brother, Asa Warner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Capitol City Baptist Church, 5990 NE 14th Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grandview Park Baptist School in loving memory of Lyla.
