The Life of HENRY RICHARD RAMSEY
H. Richard “Dick” Ramsey, 85, died, Friday, September 20, 2013, in Winterset, Iowa. He was born June 7, 1928, to Henry and Minnie Ramsey in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dick worked for Diamond Scientific Laboratory for many years and retired at Super Valu in the warehouse. Dick enjoyed football, John Wayne, and convertibles.
Dick is survived by his children, Mark Ramsey of Des Moines, Kirk (Laura) Ramsey of Memphis, Tennessee, Lisa (Butch) Ramsey Bass of Winterset, and Carolyn Ramsey (Mike Sly) of Des Moines; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Linda) Ramsey of Sequim, WA, and Mildred (Glen) Uding of Urbandale; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; parents; granddaughter, Jessica Ann Ramsey; and sister, Luann Fernandez.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September, 24, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town of Nebraska, 14100 Crawford St., Boystown, NE 68010, or the John Wayne Museum, 216 S 2nd St., Winterset, IA 50273, in loving memory of Dick.
