The Life of Kirk M. Gessic

Services for Kirk M. Gessic, 56, of Athol, MA, formerly of Euclid, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.Kirk passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in Athol, Mass., with his loving family at his side.Born July 5, 1957, in Cleveland, he was a longtime Euclid resident before moving to Massachusetts in 2000.He attended special education schools. He enjoyed horseback riding, especially ""Sparkles"" at Crimson Acres; listening to music, especially Elvis and the boogie-woogie, loved to sing and dance, was an avid ""Three Stooges"" fan and enjoyed attending parties and being with family. Dogs were a big part of his life he also loved playing Santa each Christmas for his family and others. His love for others was huge. Kirk previously worked for Cuyahoga County Workshops for 27 years.Kirk is survived by his siblings, James J. (Sandra) Gessic of Mentor; Agatha (David) Dexter of Athol, Mass.; nieces and nephews, James A. (Hope) Gessic of Perry, Stephen S. (Kerry) Gessic of Mentor, James D. (Elizabeth) Dexter of Acton, Mass., Cheryl (Brian) Dodge and Maureen S. Cole, both of Orange, Mass.; David O. (Anita) Dexter and Katherine (William) Thiem both of Athol, Mass., and their families; and many dear cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Gessic Sr. on July 26, 1975, and his mother, Agatha B. (Meyer) Gessic on Sept. 28, 2005. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township following the service on Saturday.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Dana Unit, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA 01331.
