The Life of Mary E. Gandy Thompson
Mary Ella (Gandy) Thompson, 72, of Ansonia, passed away peacefully on Sept. 3, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ella was born in Darlington, SC on Oct. 11, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Evelyn (Williamson) and Benrow Gandy. She attended local schools in Ansonia, graduating from Ansonia High School and worked at several jobs including Plated Wire and Electronics, Sikorsky Aircraft, Philips Medical Systems, and Ascom Hasler Systems of Shelton, from which she retired in 2002. Mary Ella loved church and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ansonia by the late Rev. Julian A. Taylor. Mary Ella leaves to mourn her one daughter, Shelly Thompson of Hamden; two brothers: Timothy (Dorothy) Gandy of Seymour and Troy (Dorothy) Gandy of Naugatuck; four granddaughters, six grandsons, 15 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary Ella was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Andrea Thompson, her sister, Mamie Gandy, and her nephew, Kevin Gandy. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sept 7, 2013 at 10 am at Williams Temple Church of God In Christ, 95 Bishop Williams Court, Ansonia, CT. Calling hours from 8am to 10am and family will receive friends at 9am. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
