The Life of Mamie (Mary) Wasko Barna

Mrs. Mamie “Mae” Barna, age 87, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Michael Barna, entered into peaceful rest on September 2, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Velgas) Wasko and was born on January 15, 1926 in Seymour. Mrs. Barna was an aide at Southbury Training School for many years before her retirement. She was an active member of Three Saints Church and also a member of the Senior R Club at the church. Mrs. Barna is survived by her devoted children, Valerie Clapp and her partner, James Hamill of New Milford, Eric Barna and his wife, Grace of Poughkeepsie, NY and Gregory Barna of Beacon Falls, and seven grandchildren, Evan Barna, Jessica Matta, Nathan Clapp, Kyle, Victoria, Zachary and Andrew Barna and a great grandchild, Juliette Barna and another arriving next month. She also leaves her sister, Frances Rozum of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Julia Warner and her brothers, Samuel and Paul Wasko and John Ketz predeceased her. A Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 at 9:00 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. at Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (Panahida Service at 6:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.
