The Life of Antonio R Garcia



AUSTINTOWN – Antonio R. “Tony” “Babe” Garcia, 82, passed away peacefully, Aug. 23, 2013, at Hospice House.

He was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Youngstown, the son of Everesto and Mary (Silak) Garcia.

Tony was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Indians, Browns and Ohio State but especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports.  He coached little league and 1 of 5 people responsible for starting the “mat fan club” for the Fitch High School wrestling team. He also enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing and golfing.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha; two daughters, Tracey Garcia of Austintown and Terry (Dave) Capretta of Youngstown; two sons, Mark (Jane) Garcia of Columbus and Dennis Garcia of Austintown; two sisters, Rose Marie Manes and Josephine Croutch; and 12 grandchildren, Adam, Jarrod, Danny, Dustin, Anthony, Brittany, David, Brandon, Marcus, Chelsea, Justin and Devon.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Austintown Chapel.

Entombment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
