The Life of MARY IONA HACKETT
Mary Hackett, 84, passed away August 11, 2013, at UnityPoint Health Des Moines Lutheran. She was born on December 26, 1928, in Des Moines, to Fred and Delia Logan.
Mary worked for the state of Iowa, retiring in 1994 to be a full-time grandma. She enjoyed crafting, baking, sewing, making wedding cakes, and giving to others. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her grandson, Judd Judson; caretaker, Leslee Judson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, son, Johnny, and sisters, Jenny, Nadine, and Arlene.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In loving memory of Mary, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the family, to purchase toys for Toys for Tots in the coming year.
