The Life of ROBERT DALE JOHNSON

Robert Dale Johnson, Sr., 67, passed away due to complications of lymphoma on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Robert was born June 4, 1946, in Des Moines, to William and Judith Johnson. He graduated from North High School in 1965, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Robert’s favorite job was taking care of the horses at Prairie Meadows for ten years. He enjoyed racing and gaming. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Robert loved his family and had a zest for life. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Robert Johnson II (Michelle), Desira Boes (Patrick), Nicole Vargas (Isaias), Daniel Routh, Timothy Routh (Sheila), Brenda Wylie (Chris), and Matthew Routh (Tammy); grandchildren, Sierra, Alexa, Sofia, Keygun, Ariel, Landon, Grant, Colton, Dakota, Caleb, Callie, Daniel Jr., Timothy Jr., Tommy, Christy, Jessica, Justin, Nathan, Amanda, Sarah, Gregory, and Matthew; and great-granddaughters, Lyria and Sloan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Hunter Johnson. Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 10. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service.
