The Life of AMELIA MILLIE HUMPHREYS
Amelia “Millie” Humphreys, 94, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, at her home of 65 years. She was born June 6, 1919, in Des Moines, the daughter of Joseph and Helen Music.
Amelia was the President of her Retail Garment Workers Union. She enjoyed musicals, eating at restaurants, and traveling to Europe and her parents’ birthplace, Lithuania. Amelia worked at Younkers and was a top sales representative for the Carriage Corner.
Millie was a very devoted mother to her family.
Millie is survived by her sons, Michael (JoAnn) Humphreys and Steven Humphreys; three grandchildren, Tracy (Jim) Alitz, Lisa Rouh, and Tyler Humphreys; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Gloria Coverdell; and special friend, Christa Wetzler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; son, Lyle J. Humphreys; brother, Bill Music; and sister, Mary Music.
Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Private burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.>>
