The Life of Mrs. Phyllis Ives

Phyllis Sherman Ives, age 95, of Sarasota, FL, and formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on January 10, 2021. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Raymond H. Ives, Jr. who predeceased her in 2013. Phyllis was born in White Plains, NY to the late Dr. Herbert Sherman and Marie (Young) Sherman.
Phyllis was the office manager for Ives Electric Company and then worked at the Fairfield Country Day School. Phyllis had fond childhood memories of summering at Fairfield Beach where she eventually met her husband Ray. They were fortunate to live on Fairfield Beach for many joyful years before retiring to Sarasota in 1988. Phyllis enjoyed golfing at the Patterson Club in Fairfield and the Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota. Phyllis also had a love of reading, playing bridge and volunteering at both the local libraries.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife Robin (House) of Redding, and her cherished granddaughters, Pamela House Ives of Riverside and Margot Sherman Ives of Darien. Phyllis was predeceased by her son David in 1993.
A private graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield is assisting with the arrangements.
