The Life of JOSEPH J. BUONO

Joseph Buono Joseph Buono peacefully passed on March 31st, 2021. Age being nothing but a number rings true as Joe never slowed down and lived a blessed and fulfilling life of 94 years. Joe was the first born to his late parents Antonio Buono & Maria Bodanza on January 26th 1927 in Reading, PA. At 18 years old, he was drafted out of the 11th grade to serve in the US Army in 1945 & 1946 during WWII. After returning from Germany, through his love of music and dancing he met Masione Calabro. They were married March 31st, 1951 and raised two sons on the 1400 block of Mulberry Street. Joe was known through the Northwest and Northeast sections of Reading as a mail carrier. He worked with the USPS for 25 years before embracing the joys of retirement. Joe was recognized by walking with the 2002 class of Central Catholic High School to receive his honorary diploma. Joe was an avid traveler, bowler, gambler and Philadelphia sports fan. He was also a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Parish. Joe was well known for organizing a great trip and for his quick-wit, smile, and the zest he had for his friends and family. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Marcy, whom he cherished for 62 years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, Michael & Denise Buono of Temple and Anthony & Karen Buono of Hamburg as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons and one on the way. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00 AM, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1018 N. 8th St., Reading, PA 19604. Friends may call Wednesday, April 7th, from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 N. 11th St., Reading. Online condolences may be made at www.sandersfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church at the above address. Entombment in the Chapel of Resurrection, Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
