The Life of BERNARD L BRAWDY

Bernard Lee Brawdy, 77, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the funeral home. Bernard was born November 30, 1935, in Chariton, Iowa, to Josephine and Waldo Brawdy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for many years, taking both his kids and his grandkids on the road with him. He loved watching wrestling, football, and racing; and also enjoyed going fishing, and all of his pets. He always had one wish and that was to see Brett Favre play at Lambeau Field, which he got to do in 2004. He will be greatly missed by many friends and his loving family. Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Savannah; his children: Fawn (Ken) Johnson of Des Moines, Victor (Heather) Brawdy of Des Moines, Zinna (Steve) Pearson of Des Moines, Bernard Brawdy, Jr., of Des Moines, Kathy Stewart of Montana, Sherry McCoy of Oregon, and Linda Stanger of Colorado; his step-children: Dennis Corbett of Des Moines, Tina (Danny) Wells of Kentucky, Donna Corbett of Des Moines, Sarah (Jerry) Fetters of Des Moines, and Tamara (Chris) Nath of Des Moines; his sisters: Mary Jo (Norm) Reikens of Corydon, and Janette (Albert) Shreck of Russell; 37 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Cynthia.
