The Life of MARY ANN TOMETICH

Mary Ann Tometich, 80, of Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, died Friday, April 26, 2013. Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. She was born in Odebolt, Iowa, and had lived in Des Moines since 1952 after marrying Paul Tometich. She is survived by her three sons, Vince (Becky) of Ankeny, Chris (Peggy) of Windsor, Colorado, and Andy (Danielle) of Novi, Michigan; along with six grandchildren, Jason of Ankeny, Scott (Marie) and Kurt (Taryn) of Windsor, Colorado, Valerie of Crest Hill, Illinois, and Nathan and Olivia of Novi, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Layne of Windsor, Colorado; brothers, Arthur, Laverne, Melvin, and Larry; and sisters, Carol Batterton, Janet Dalton, Bonnie Poynor, and Paulette Carwyle. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Tometich; father, James O. Thompson Sr.; mother, Margaret M. (Ziegmann) Thompson; and her two brothers, James Jr., and Richard. Mary Ann was always passionate about her family and their activities. She enjoyed music, singing, and participating in church choirs as well as other singing groups over the years. Her family and friends were treated often by her love of baking and candy making. Mary Ann was a longtime member of T.O.P.S., inspiring countless other members achieving and maintaining her K.O.P.S. status. She also volunteered many hours, including at All Saints Catholic School. All those she touched will miss her very much. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, followed by a rosary, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, or Unity Point Health Hospice in loving memory of Mary Ann.
