The Life of Altonette Willis Reid
Altonette (Netta) Renee Willis-Reid, 46, of New Haven, CT, widow of the late Lloyd Reid, Jr. departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven after a long illness. She was born in Derby, CT on May 31, 1966 to Deacon Janice (Gaspar) Benitez of New Haven and Alton Willis, Sr. of West Haven. She began her public education in Ansonia, then continued in the New Haven School System when the family moved to New Haven and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. After marriage, Altonette moved to West Palm Beach, FL before returning to Connecticut in 1993 to be closer to her family. Altonette was employed by Splash car wash as a customer service rep until her illness. Altonette had a heart for caring for people so during this time she continued her education by attending Data Institute and Butler Business School, graduating in May 2012 as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Altonette was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Ansonia, CT. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Perry Moore, Jr. of Suffield, CT, five daughters, Kadeidra (Joseph) Valentine of Bridgeport, CT, Katrina Reid of Derby, CT, Kadeia Reid of New Haven, CT, Keiyona Reid of Derby, CT, Karina Reid of New Haven, CT, stepdaughter, Shantel Carter, stepson, Lloyd Reid, III of Bridgeport, CT, 6 grandchildren, Jeanae Ramos, Saniyah Reid, Joseph Valentine, Jr., Jada Richards, Laila Richards, Jo''Lee Valentine, one brother, Alton Willis, Jr. of Middletown, CT, her maternal grandmother, Deacon Katie (Julius) Bacote and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 243 Pershing Drive, Ansonia, CT. Calling hours are from 9 a.m. until time of service.
