Loyd R. "Bud" Hornback, Jr., passed away April 7, 2013.
Loyd was born in Fairbury, NE, on May 3, 1930, to the late Loyd and Lorene (Williams) Hornback, Sr. He grew up in Fairbury, NE, and later moved to Des Moines, IA, where he attended East High School and met his wife, Jean. Loyd went on to major in electrical engineering at Iowa State University in 1953. He served our country in the Army Signal Corps in Fort Monmouth, NJ and Fort Huachuca, AZ from 1953-55, and also received his MBA from Drake University in 1963. Loyd worked for Shell Oil Company, then at Iowa Power and Light, retiring in 1991 as Vice-President for Southwest Iowa. He served as President of Noon Rotary, and the Chamber of Commerce. Loyd also served on many boards, such as State Bank and Trust, Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital, YMCA, Dodge House and Council Bluffs Industrial Foundation, and was an active member of Saint John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed many past-times, including baseball, hunting, fishing, golf, and had a great love of family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean; children, Kim (Kirk) Devine, Kris Hornback, Russ (Wendy) Hornback; grandchildren, Jesseca (Gary), Erika, Bryce, Erik, Taylor and Britta; great-grandchildren, Grace, Faith, and Maile.

Visitation with the family Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Cutler-O''Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel.
Service:
Funeral Service Friday, 9:30 a.m., at Saint John Lutheran Church. Rev E. Jon Benson and Rev. Shannyn Magee, officiants.
Cemetery:
Graveside service Friday, 3:00 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines, with full Military Honors.
