The Life of Fay L. Gierman
Fay L. Gierman (1919-2013) Private family services have been held for Fay L. Gierman, 93, of Willowick. Mrs. Gierman passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Mentor Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mentor. Born Sept. 2, 1919, in Cleveland, to Edward and Viola Kohl Sherman, she was a 37-year resident of Willowick, having moved there from Painesville. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, cooking, baking pastries and spending time with her longtime four-legged companion, Cindy. Mrs. Gierman is survived by her children, Charles (Nancy) Gierman of Concord Township, Nancy Baker of Painesville and James (Sharon) Gierman of Chester Township; grandchildren, Denise, Tim, Dennis, Chuck, Sherry, David, Sheila, Jeff and Randy; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Pearl Strunk, Barbara Reich, Edward Sherman and Shirley Majurski; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death in 1999, after 61 years of marriage, by her husband, Lloyd, whom she married in 1938. Her parents, Edward and Viola Sherman; sister, Grace Strunk; brothers, William and Robert Sherman; and son-in-law, Brian Baker, also are deceased. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.
