The Life of Shirley A Friend

SHIRLEY ANN FRIEND McDONALD – Shirley Ann Friend, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her residence. Shirley was born June 21, 1935, in Ohio, the daughter of the late Otto and Bessie Fryfoggle Stauffer. Shirley had worked for her daughter, Lisa, at Performing Arts Center in McDonald for 25 years and also for the Board of Elections for over 25 years. She was a member of the Boardman Baptist Church, where she had been a former Sunday school teacher, and also volunteered for the PTA and Band Boosters while her children were in school. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Dan) Kovach of Liberty Township, David (Audrey) Friend of McDonald, Nancy (Steve) Pruneski of Green, Mark (Jennifer) Friend of Hubbard and Lisa (Andy Timko) Friend of Canfield and grandchildren, Kevin and Jacob Kovach, April and Mike Friend, Lindsey, Lauren and Stephen Pruneski, Justin and Ian Friend, Miles Dunlap and Alex Graff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Friend, whom she married Dec. 3, 1951, and who died June 6, 2012; sister Bernice Wilkins; and brother Bud Stauffer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at the Boardman Baptist Church. The family will receive relatives and friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home and also on Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
