The Life of CATHERINE ELIZABETH KOCK

Catherine Elizabeth Kock, 86, passed away at Parkridge Nursing Center in Pleasant Hill on February 21, 2013. Catherine was born October 13, 1926, in Fordyce, Nebraska, to Zeno and Mathilda Suing. She was one of two sets of twins and a total of 13 children. She was a teacher’s associate at Garton Elementary in Des Moines. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, the Croatian Center, and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of VFW Post 9662 and AmVets Post 2. Catherine is survived by her husband of 66 years, Larell Kock; children, Roger (Sue) Kock, Francis (Sofia) Kock, David Kock, Elizabeth (Glenn) Griffin, Greg (Bonita) Kock, and Bob (Sheryl) Kock; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters including twin sister, Elizabeth Catherine; three brothers; a great-grandson, Calvin Brandert; mother-in-law, Lena; and father-in-law, Fred Kock. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a VFW ceremony at 6 p.m. and a Rosary service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Peter’s Parish, E. 18th and Des Moines Streets, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be distributed to various organizations in loving memory of Catherine.>>
