The Life of EUGENE LUTHER NORTON
Eugene L. Norton, 89, passed away February 3, 2013. A funeral will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Gene owned and operated several service stations. He was a veteran of the Army, serving his country in Belgium in WWII. Gene was a 32nd Degree Mason, and also loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Doris; children, Juli (Carl) Cooper, Jill Armentrout, and Mike (Karen) Norton; four step-children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Hesseltine. He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings and son-in-law, John Armentrout. Memorials may be made to Kavanagh Hospice House.
