The Life of EDWIN ARTHUR LACK

Edwin Arthur Lack, 85, of Des Moines, passed away on February 3, 2013, at Valley View Village. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., with the funeral service at 1 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ed was born in Des Moines to Clarence and Selma Lack on August 22, 1927. He graduated from East High School. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked many years. He was a member of Auburn-Union Park Masonic Lodge #592 and Eastern Star North Gate Lodge 417. Ed enjoyed flower gardening and reading. He also enjoyed volunteering in various capacities for several community service organizations. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn of 57 years; children, Randy Lack of Altoona, Iowa, Sherry Samperi of Huntington Beach, California, Deborah (Brian) Delk of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Alan Lack of Des Moines; and his grandchildren, Melissa Curtis, Ashley Lack, Madison and Ian Delk, and Joshua Lack. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert and Donald Lack. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Valley View Building Fund.
