The Life of ROXANA KAY STUIT

Roxie''s life centered on God, family and The Book Works, her bookkeeping firm. It was not uncommon for her to work 10 - 12 hour days, then drive to Norwalk to watch her granddaughter, Kes, sing in a jazz choir production or to watch her grandsons, Robert and Corbin, play football. Roxie loved and cared for many people, and would often visit friends in hospitals and gave selflessly of herself to anyone in need. When asked why she pushed herself so hard she would always say, "Because that''s why God put me here". Roxie enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. On Saturday, January 12, 2013, Roxie passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, at Westchester Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Roxie is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Lee) Smith of Norwalk, her grandchildren, Jesse, Kes, Robert and Corbin; her siblings, Cliff (Stephanie) Bates of Norwalk and Kathy (Donnie) Papian of Windsor Heights; her long-time companion and friend, Randy Balch of Clive and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial Plaque at the Gray''s Lake Park Pedestrian Bridge. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com. It is now with her passing that her journey has only begun.
