The Life of DONALD EARL NEWCOMB
Donald Newcomb, 90, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at University Park Care Center.
Donald was born January 20, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Albert and Grace Newcomb. He was a Navy Veteran and Pearl Harbor Survivor, serving on the USS Pennsylvania. Donald enjoyed being outdoors, and enjoyed traveling, having visited every state. Donald''s main passion was bowling, however, his latest passion was eating out at IHOP as often as he could.
Donald is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Patricia Lynn Newcomb; sister, Violet Cosgrove; sister-in-law, Nancy Newcomb; very close friends, Don Schnurr and family, and Lee and Glee Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. THe family would also like to thank the residents and staff at Luther Park and Dr. Jay Rosenberger and staff for all their support.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Gee; and brother, William D. Newcomb.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
