The Life of FRED E MALLETT
Fred Mallett, 90, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012, at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines. He was born May 29, 1922, in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
Fred served in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He retired from the United States Post Office. Fred wintered in Arizona and enjoyed working outside, gardening, camping, traveling, square dancing and round dancing.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred; sons, Ron and David; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Glen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
