The Life of PHYLLIS JEAN PARR
Phyllis Jean Parr, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on August 15, 1927 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Margaret Holbrook. Phyllis lived in Ames and moved to Des Moines in 1947. Phyllis married John William Parr in 1946, who preceded her in death in 1994. She worked for Look Magazine for 14 years and then for Budget Marketing for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Phyllis enjoyed reading and attended Capitol Hill Christian Church.
Phyllis is survived by nieces and nephews, including Ron (Sharon) Baughman of California; longtime friend and care taker, Sheila Fagen of Des Moines and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Monday, September 17 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Taylor House Hospice.
