The Life of KATHRYN ELOISE SIMON
Kathryn Eloise Simon, age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Kathryn was born on July 23, 1928, in Des Moines, to Edward and Mabel Van Ginkel.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946 and remained a “southsider” all of her life. Kathryn retired from Continental Can Corporation after many years of dedicated, loyal service. She was also a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Kathryn leaves behind her son and his wife, Tom and Pat; grandson, Eric; step-grandsons, Brian and Eric; four great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews, good friends, and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy; her brothers, Roy and Ed; and sisters, Irene and Harriet.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
