The Life of VELDA MARIE CLUBB

Velda Marie Clubb, 94, died Monday, August 20, 2012, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Street, Des Moines, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, at the church with a 7:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation also from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Velda was born May 29, 1918, near Sigourney, to Henry and Anna Klett. She attended Sigourney High School and graduated in 1936 with a teaching certificate for rural schools. She taught school for three years. She then moved to Des Moines and married Herbert Clubb. They became the parents of one daughter, Gail Frances. Velda worked in factories around Des Moines until 1943. Then she spent a year in the San Francisco post office while her husband worked in the ship yards. When he entered the Navy she came back to Des Moines and worked at Ford Implement Factory until her daughter was born. Velda and Herbert enjoyed traveling. Velda is survived by her daughter, Gail, and her husband David Tomlinson; one granddaughter, Deana Tomlinson; one great-grandson, Darrien Tomlinson; sister, Velma Weachter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; two sisters, LaVida Klett and Violet Weston; and her brother, Lee Henry Klett. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Velda.
