The Life of LOREN CHARLES BARNES

Loren Charles Barnes, 74, of Naples, FL, and Indianapolis, IN, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Sonny was born on June 20, 1938 in Oak Park, IL to the late Loren and Maybelle (Anderson) Barnes. Sonny is a U.S. Army veteran. Sonny was a tremendously loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Sonny was employed as a buyer for Sears for 35 years before retiring. Upon retirement, he moved to Naples and was a Lee County Deputy Sheriff for 10 years. Sonny was a true environmentalist and outdoorsman who loved Mother Nature and everything she had to offer, such as fishing, hiking, walking, plants, and its animals. Sonny also enjoyed NASCAR, dogs and cats, and orchids. He was a member of the Skokie Valley Masonic Lodge in IL. Sonny is survived by his loving sons: Lance Barnes and Wes Barnes (Katherine); their mother Dee Sechrist; sister Sue Riley (Irv Starkey); nephew Darren Riley; and grandson Chance Barnes. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. Burial will be private to the family. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society and/or Audubon Society.
