The Life of BEULAH RUTH LEAVELL

Beulah “Boots” Leavell passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 in Des Moines. She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Jesser. She was a graduate of Woodside High School.

Boots was devoted to her family, church, and friends. She was a member of All Saints Parish and had been involved in several church activities through the years. Cooking was her long standing passion and she gained great joy from entertaining family and friends. She had previously operated approved housing at the University of Texas, Austin, feeding 50 students at lunch and 100 at dinner, and acquired many lifelong friends.

Boots was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Robert) Jones, Marianne “Muffin” (Douglas) Kinney, and Rebecca (Shannon) Maher; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brother, Joe Jesser; sister-in-law, Neda Jesser; as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m., followed by eulogies.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or Colfax Mingo Middle School Foundation.
