The Life of PHILLIP MARTIN WATTERS

Phillip Martin Watters, age 73, died on June 12, 2012 at his home in Clive. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. Visitation will be 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Highland Memory Gardens. Butch was born March 31, 1939 in Des Moines to Charles E. and Lucille M. Watters. He served his country honorably in the Marine Corps and also in the Air Force and Air Guard. He married Carol Johnston on Sept. 2, 1960. He was a car dealer for 50 years and was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, was also a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin sons, Trent and Troy. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carol (Johnston) Watters; son, Michael (Lisa); daughters, Tammy (Gary) Mason and Trisha (Vince) Scavo; 6 grandchildren, Erin, MiKayla, Vinnie, Michael Jr., Joseph, and Lucy; and his best buddy, Sir Winston, his pug. He also leaves a sister, Sharon Swartzbaugh, and a brother, Jerry Watters; and many good life-long friends. Memorials may be made to ARL of Iowa or the Variety Club of Iowa.
