The Life of WALTER JENKINS BRICKER Jr.

Walter Jenkins Bricker, Jr., 93, passed peacefully from life on June 9, 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa, from complications of a recent stroke. Walter will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens in a private ceremony. Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Childreach organization. Walt was born on January 23, 1919 in Boone, Iowa, and attended East High School in Des Moines. Walt served as an airplane mechanic in the US Army during World War II. Walt was married to Betty Morford in 1954, until her death in 1986. Walt attended First Friends Church and was active in the East High Boosters and the Horseless Carriage Club. Walt worked for 35 years at Braniff Air Lines. He visited over 40 countries during his lifetime. He also traveled to the Soviet Union on several world peace walks, were he met his wife, Svetlana Baranova. World peace was his lasting wish. Walter is survived by his wife, Svetlana; sister, Barbara; daughter, Mary Bricker (Joseph Smith); son, Kenneth (Anna Stehle); and his beloved grandchildren, Jeffrey, Carter, Katie, Lily and Jane. Goodbye Walt. We are grateful for your peace, and promise to keep seeking the greater one you hoped for.
