The Life of LAWRENCE LEE PINEGAR

Lawrence "Larry" Pinegar, 72, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma cancer at Iowa Health Hospice-Taylor House. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2 at Grace Church, 4200 East 25th St., Des Moines. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Larry was born on January 13, 1940, the youngest of ten children of Clara and Wilbur Pinegar. He worked for Crouse Cartage Company and was a member of Teamsters Local 147 for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961 serving on the U.S.S. Intrepid. Larry was a member of Freedom Church. He enjoyed helping others and always put everyone else's needs before his own. He was a loving, kind, and generous man whose life revolved around his relationship with the Lord and his family. Larry was the greatest husband, dad, and grandpa in the world! Larry will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Becky; his daughter, Laurie Kolsto (Steve); son, Larry (Shan); daughter, LuAnn Little (Mike); six grandchildren, Jeremiah Cort, Seth Cort, Kayla (Matt) Vandehaar, Austin Pinegar, Nick Little, Zach Little; three brothers, Charlie (Maurine) Pinegar, Joe (Viola) Pinegar and Russell (Janie) Pinegar; and two sisters, Barbara (John) Waagan and Mickey Hodges. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslee; parents; three brothers, Albert, Alfred, and Bill; and one sister, Rosemary. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Freedom Church, 4101 E. 42nd St. Des Moines, IA 50317 in loving memory of Larry.
