The Life of Anna Pawchyk Spakowsky

Anna Spakowsky, age 92 of Ansonia, died peacefully on May 11, 2012, at the Birming ham Health Care Center. Born in Ansonia on January 1, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Pawel and Theodosia Bodak Pawchyk. Mrs. Spakowsky was a lifelong resident of Ansonia, graduate of Ansonia High School and member of Three Saints Orthodox Church. Prior to her retirement, she was an employee of the B.F. Goodrich Co., formerly of Shelton. Mrs. Spakowsky was an avid knitter and member of the Ansonia and Derby Senior Centers and enjoyed many trips to the casinos. She is survived by her devoted children, Annette German and her husband, James of Ansonia and Stephen Spakowsky and his wife Rita of Webster, NY; a sister, Eva Kwoka of Rocky Hill; cherished grandchildren, Julie Penwell and her husband, Shawn of Ansonia, Joel A. German of Ansonia, Stephanie Tagliente and her husband, Damien of MN and Stacy LaHam and her husband, Ryan of MD; as well as 3 cherished great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 40 years, she was predeceased by sisters, Mary Lombardi and Julia Stuppin and brothers, Dimitro, John and Peter Pawchyk. Funeral services will take place of Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 8:15 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00AM in Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Panikhida at 5:30PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maintenance Fund of Three Saints Orthodox Church. >>
