The Life of FLOYD CECIL COE

Floyd C. Coe, 92, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Taylor House. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Floyd was born August 5, 1919, in Lucas County, Iowa, to Raymond and Rachel (Aldrich) Coe. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army/Air Force and then in the reserves. Floyd worked as an accountant his entire career, with the last eight years at the Iowa Pork Producers before retiring in 1988. Floyd was a member of King David Lodge #407, Scottish Rite, Za Ga Zig Temple, Men’s Garden Club of Des Moines, The Gardeners of America, Iowa Genealogy Society and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Floyd enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. Floyd is survived by his children, Craig Harris (Carla) of Davis, California, Linda Harris of Altoona and Vicki Neilson (Gregory) of Sandy, Oregon; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Dorothy Sellers of Osceola; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maurine L. Harris Coe, his parents, and five siblings. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Floyd.
