The Life of WILLIAM DONALD KENNELLEY

William D.“Bill” Kennelley, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his home. He was born on February 11, 1923, in Des Moines, to Robert and Martha (Wiley) Kennelley. He spent his entire life in Des Moines. Bill was an electrician for over 40 years and retired from Baker Electric in 1984. He also worked part-time for Wells Fargo as a security guard. He married Verna R. Engelhardt on February 14, 1948, and to this union they were blessed with two children. Bill is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Larry) Bietz; two grandchildren, Ben and Joseph Bietz of Austin, TX.; great-grandson, Steven Thomas Bietz of Austin, TX.; his brother, John (Nada) Kennelley; sisters-in-law, Evie Engelhardt and Grace McMahan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna; his son, Thomas; and siblings, Richard Kennelley, Hazel Spaulding, Ruth McAninch, Lillian McAninch and Robert Roy Kennelley. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, or Mercy Hospice of Johnston, in loving memory of Bill. Bill’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mercy Hospice and Evie Engelhardt for the love and care given to Bill.
