The Life of Marie Blakely Clark

Marie E. Clark, age 88 and wife of the late Robert F. Clark Jr. an Ansonia resident, passed away at home on March 2, 2012. She was born August 26, 1923 in Derby, daughter of the late James & Blanche O'Neil Blakely. She attended Ansonia schools and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1941, and later the St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford in 1943. She served in the Army as a nurse during World War II. She served as School Nurse for the Ansonia Board of Education from 1959 until retirement in 1988, and had previously worked for St. Raphael's Hospital and Griffin Hospital.She will be remembered by many for the loving care she gave to family members who were ill, the babies & children who needed looking after, and for the devotion she gave generously to all her loved ones. She married Robert "Foxy" Clark on September 21,1946 at The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia, where she was a lifelongparishioner. The couple shared 57 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2003.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Blanche Robinson. Survivors include her two sons, Robert F. Clark III of Orange & Wayne J. Clark of Masa, Arizona, her daughter Joyce Mackowski& her husband Rich of Ansonia, her brother James H. Blakely & his wife Barbara of Pensacola, Florida, grandchildren Robert F. Clark IV, AislinnMigliozzi& her husband Anthony, and Cassidy Clark and 2 great grandchildren, Anthony &Gianna. The family would like to thank her devoted 24/7 caregiver Verna, allowing Marie to live in her own home for the remainder of her bountiful life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 7that 9:30 a.m., with friends asked to go directly to The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King &Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia.
