The Life of HUBERT LAWRENCE HARDESTY Jr.

Memorial Services will be held for Hubert “Bob” Hardesty, Jr. 72 at the Fort Madison Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa at 11:00 AM Thursday February 23, 2012. The Reverend James McDowell will officiate at the service. Bob died on Thursday February 16, 2012 of Alzheimer’s under the wonderful care of his medical team and Hospice Caretakers especially Theas and Kevin. Bob was born Hubert Lawrence Hardesty, Jr. on July 30, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. He chose to use the name Bob after an Uncle he looked up to. The second of four children of Edythe ( Lynch) and Hubert Hardesty Sr. He attended Des Moines Technical High School and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. Bob was an active supporter of the Saint Lewis Cardinals, an avid Chess player, boxer and official for over 30 years with the Iowa Golden Gloves. Hubert “Bob” was survived by his sister Maxine Ann Hardesty-Lettington/Norman, his two daughters Karen LeAnn Hardesty Jackson/Brent, grandson Nickolas granddaughter Kaitlyn and Kristine Lynn Hardesty-Nicewarner/Mike grandsons Brandon and Michael and his loving step-daughter Michelle Dawn Des Planques and Many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bob’s sister Maxine and niece Deborah Wignall-Sandoval were especially supportive in Bob’s care for the past seven years. He was preceded in death by his infant son Michael Loren, his wife Bonnie Jean Neal-Hardesty, his parents and sisters A. Leta Hardesty Dice-Porter and Darlene Y. Hardesty-Hagen.
