The Life of DENISE RENEAU MOORE

Denise R. Moore, 54, went to walk with her Lord Wednesday, February 8, 2012. She was born May 13, 1957 to Catherine (McFarland) Moore and Wilber J. Moore. Denise was born with a severe disability known as osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bones. This did not prevent her from living a full life, she never stopped. She was active in the community in organizations concerning the disabled. She touched many lives and many people impacted her. Denise spent her preschool years at the Easter Seals Center, attended Smouse School, and graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1975. She spent many summers at Camp Sunnyside and served as Miss Wheel Chair Iowa in 1979. The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Chicago played a very major role in the longevity of her life. Denise attended Grace Church in Des Moines for many years. She was currently employed with the Des Moines School district. She is survived by her brother, Michael (Merlyn) and niece, Melinda; step-mother, Marian Moore; step-sisters, Joy Gappa, Denise Fetters, Annie McCormick, and Darcy Olson; step-brother, Lee Deal; many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Denise was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hopsitals or Camp Sunnyside in loving memory of Denise.
